C H O I C E S   FOR  LYDIA  AT  FOURTEEN

By  Papaw Beaty  4/23/07

Fourteen years are gone, they have flown by fast.

And now a young lady emerges at last.

Parental control will soon be past.

And choices made now, your future will cast.

Be very careful on which path you go.

What you are today, the future will show.

Mistakes in the past, your parents made right.

Errors made today, your future may blight.

You’re no longer a child.  Those days are gone.

A young lady has appeared, it’s time to move on.

You hold in your hands the key to tomorrow,

Whether it’s joy, fulfillment, or sorrow.

You don’t have to look far to know what I say.

The choices we make last more than a day.

Fourteen years of guidance have brought you this far.

Now the future is yours, to polish or mar.
