DON’T LET THE DEVIL SET THE RULES
By Rev. Dean Beaty       1/11/03

Don’t let the devil set the rules, when God is on your side.
Listen and obey God’s word and let it be your guide.
For God who lives within your heart, is greater far than all.
And with God’s might, you’ll win the fight.  So stand up strong and tall.

Ole Satan slithered through the trees and said so Eve could hear.
“This fruit is very good to eat.  There’s nothing you should fear.”
What Satan said made sense to Eve.  She listened to his lie.
Now, sin has come upon the earth.  That’s why each one must die.

Goliath said, “Who is your champ?  Come out and make him known.”
“Send just one, the best you have and we will fight alone.”
The giant had a great big shield.  He also had a sword.
But David tried to warn him.  “The battle is the Lord’s.”

Naaman was a mighty man.  His rank was clear to see.
But he was sad as sad could be, for he had leprosy.
Elisha said, “Dip seven times and you’ll be whole again.”
But Satan filled his heart with pride, and pride you know is sin.

But one of Naaman’s faithful men talked sense into the man.
And so he did as he was told and followed God’s command.
And when he stood the seventh time, humility endured.
It turned out just as God had said.  His leprosy was cured.

Don’t let the devil set the rules, since God is on your side.
Listen and obey God’s word and let it be your guide.
For God who lives within your heart, is greater far than all.
And with God’s might, you’ll win the fight. So stand up strong and tall.
