DON’T MAKE BREAD YOUR GOAL
By Dean Beaty 8/28/05
When Jesus was tempted to turn stones into
bread,
He quoted the truths the Father had said.
That, “Man shall not live by just
bread alone.”
Defeating temptation, He left stone as stone.
“They that will be rich, fall into
temptation.”
Most who are wealthy, miss God’s invitation.
The things of this life have become their
goal.
Neglecting salvation, no time for the soul.
The things of this life will all pass away.
And all of your gold will perish some day.
Lay up your treasures in heaven alone.
Yield not to temptation, making bread out of
stone.
This world will tell you, “Gain all that
you can.”
Making gold their God, throughout their life
span.
Don’t envy this world but heed what God said.
Do not make your goal, the getting of bread.
Sure Jesus could have turned stones into
bread.
But He chose to obey the Father instead.
If it’s your desire to nourish the soul,
Don’t make the mistake of making bread your
goal.
