The sly sin of envy can trick us all.

Some say the cause of man’s first fall.

They thought that God was holding back,

On some great knowledge they would lack.

 

They felt the fruit would make them wise.

It looked so lovely to their eyes.

It opened their eyes and they became,

Cut off from God in naked shame.

 

Unable to learn to live content,

They wanted more than God’s intent.

It is the cause of many a fall,

That keeps us all from God’s clear call.

 

So when you see what others own.

Do not begin to moan and groan.

Just be content with your own nest.

Knowing this truth that God knows best.
